Passive Barn Home

This was NZ's first Passive House and is located close to Lake Hawea. It was built with SIP panels from NZ SIP which meant that a closed-in shell could be quickly acheived. Our client, Johnathan Holmes, imported oak from the UK for this project. Oak is a beautiful timber but has the challenge of warping and twisting more than most species. So, although we can do frames out of oak, we prefer to use NZ grown Douglas Fir and Macrocarpa.
