About Us

Heritage Timbercraft is a New Zealand owned business based at Mohaka River Farm in Hawkes Bay. Along with Heritage Timbercraft, this 277 acre property is home to a boutique sawmilling and timber processing business, a horse trekking operation and a spacious campground with various lodge and cabin accommodations. The company is owned by several families that work in, or support the business.

It is a privilege for us to be working with our hands and teaching the craft to others. Our background is in traditional post and beam joinery, Ralph having co-founded the first traditional post and beam company in New Zealand almost 20 years ago.

We value the relationships with our clients and find it a privilege to support them on the journey to create a warm, beautiful and functional home. We serve customers throughout New Zealand. We source antique barns through our relationship with Heritage Restorations in the USA. along with several other reputable suppliers. We also value the small scale family sawmill businesses who mill timber for us around NZ.

Our qualified design team, having been involved in the design of over 100 new builds, specialises in barn homes. We enjoy working with our clients to create their dream home, talking through design decisions and helping to streamline the process.

Our Team

Our greatest asset is our team, a group of dedicated and hard-working craftsmen. Our North American contacts are also a crucial part of our business, sourcing barns and material, controlling fumigation and transport as well as offering the support and experience from over 20 years in the industry. Our architectural team is available to help with a full design including building consent drawings.
